Cardene is an oral tablet made up of nicardipine, which is a calcium channel blocking agent. We carry the brand name Cardene in 20mg and 30mg doses.
Cardene is used to treat angina (chest pain) and hypertension (high blood pressure). This medication can be used by itself or in combination with other medications. When you treat hypertension, you also lower the chance of its complications such as heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems. In order to be effective, this medication must be taken regularly.
As a calcium channel blocker, it work to help treat hypertension and angina by relaxing and widening the blood vessels in your body so blood can flow more easily, resulting in lower blood pressure.
Your doctor will tell you before prescribing you Cardene exactly how to take this medication. Follow his directions, they can usually be found on the prescription label if you forget.
Ensure you don’t miss a dose by taking this medication at the same time every day. You can use a pillbox or set a reminder on your Smartphone to ensure you don’t forget.
Do not take more or less of a dosage than directed to by your doctor. It is not recommended to stop taking this medication before consulting your doctor.
This medication is taken three times a day (on average) and can be taken with or without a meal, whatever your doctor advises you to do.
Before taking this medication make sure to your doctor about all drug allergies you have.
Cardene should not be taken with certain medical conditions that have to do with structural heart problems. Speak to your doctor before proceeding to take Cardene to ensure it is safe for you.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any past diseases of the liver or kidney.
Before having a surgery, make sure whomever it may concern knows you are on Cardene.
This medication can make you dizzy and/or lightheaded. Make sure you completely understand how Cardene affects you before driving under the influence of it.
Cardene should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Discuss the risks with your doctor.
It has not yet been established if this medication passes into breast milk and so it is recommended you do not breast feed unless your doctor believes otherwise.

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as possible unless your next dose is approaching. If you next dose is soon, just skip the missed dose.
