This medication comes in a singular dose of 0.05%. Remember your dose is based on your medical background and your overall response to the treatment. This medication is to be used on the skin only. Clean and dry the affected area. Then apply a thin film of the medication directly on the affected area and around it. Gently rub the medication in. This medicine is usually used 2 to 4 times a day or as directed to you by your doctor. After use, wash your hands. And do not cover, wrap, or bandage the affected area unless otherwise told to do so by your doctor.
Do not apply this medication to any of the following areas; eyes, nose, mouth, or inside the vagina. If you do per chance get the medication within these areas, make sure to flush with plenty of water.
The dosage is based on your medical condition, and your response to the treatment. Do not apply this more often or use longer then directed. It may cause an increase in the risk of side effects.
Before taking this medication, it is best to advise your doctor if you are allergic to Fluocinonide; or to other corticosteroids (e.g., hydrocortisone, prednisone); or to any other medications or allergies in general.
Also it is best to notify your doctor of your medical history. Inform you doctor if you have had any of the following; poor blood circulation, immune system problems.
Do not use if there is an infection or sore present in the area to be treated.
Some side effects may occur while taking this mediation, they are as follows; Burning, itching, irritation, or dryness may occur when this medication is first applied to the skin. However, if these symptoms do persist or worsen, it is best to consult with your doctor.
If you are experiencing any of these rare but very serious side effects, seek medical help right away. The side effects are as follows; stretch marks, skin thinning/discoloration, acne, extreme/unwanted hair growth, "hair bumps" (folliculitis).
Skin infections can become worse when this medication is used. Notify your doctor if redness, swelling, or irritation does not improve.
Rarely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed from the skin into the bloodstream. This can lead to side effects of too much corticosteroid. These side effects are more likely in children, and in people who use this medication for a long time or over large areas of the skin. Tell your doctor right away if any of the following side effects occur: unusual/extreme tiredness, weight loss, headache, swelling ankles/feet, increased thirst/urination, vision problems.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
