Arthritis is a broad term for a group of over 100 diseases. And they all have to do with your joints. Such as your wrists, knees, hips and fingers. Although some types of arthritis can also affect your connective tissues and organs, including your skin. It is a condition that can happen to anyone; however it is more likely as you age.
This medication is used to relieve pain that is caused by various conditions. It also reduces swelling and joint stiffness from arthritis. Lodine is known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It performs by blocking natural substances that cause the inflammation.

This medication comes in the singular dose of 600mg. Remember; your dose is based on your medical background and your overall response to the treatment. If your doctor or pharmacist has given you some information in the form of a pamphlet, take the time to read up on this drug, and if you have any questions or concerns regarding this medication, please consult your doctor.
This medication is to be taken by mouth, usually once a day, and with a full glass of water. Do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking this medication. You may also take this medicine with food, milk, or an antacid, to prevent an upset stomach. Do not crush or chew on the tablet. Doing so may release all of the drug at once and therefore increase the risk of any side effects
The dosage given to you is based on your medical condition and your response to the treatment. Now, to reduce any risk of stomach bleeding and other various side effects, your doctor may start you on this medication on a lower dosage, and then upgrade you to higher dosages as the times goes by. Do not increase or take more of the dosage then what has been prescribed to you. Doing so may increase the risk of any side effects.
For certain conditions, such as arthritis, it may take up to 2 weeks of regularly taking this medication to see the full benefit.
Before taking this medication, it is best to advise your doctor if you are allergic to Etodolac; or to aspirin or other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib); or to any other medications or allergies in general.
Also it is best to notify your doctor of your medical history. Inform you doctor if you have had any of the following; asthma (including a history of worsening breathing after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs), blood disorders (such as anemia, bleeding/clotting problems), growths in the nose (nasal polyps), heart disease (such as previous heart attack), high blood pressure, liver disease, stroke, throat/stomach/intestinal problems (such as bleeding, heartburn, ulcers).
Kidney problems can sometimes occur with the use of NSAID medications, including etodolac. Problems are more likely to occur if you are dehydrated, have heart failure or kidney disease, are an older adult, or if you take certain medications (see also Drug Interactions section). Drink plenty of fluids as directed by your doctor to prevent dehydration and tell your doctor right away if you have a change in the amount of urine.
This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy. Alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can make you more dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana (cannabis).
This medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol and tobacco, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Limit alcohol and stop smoking. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Limit your time in the sun. Avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Tell your doctor right away if you get sunburned or have skin blisters/redness.
Upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, drowsiness, or dizziness may occur If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
This medication may raise your blood pressure. Check your blood pressure regularly and tell your doctor if the results are high.
Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: easy bruising/bleeding, difficult/painful swallowing, hearing changes (such as ringing in the ears), mental/mood changes, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), unexplained stiff neck, vision changes, symptoms of heart failure (such as swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness, unusual/sudden weight gain).
This medication may cause a serious, however rare, liver disease. Seek medical attention right away if you have any symptoms of live damage, including the following; dark urine, persistent nausea/vomiting/loss of appetite, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
What happens if I suddenly stop taking this medication?
There may be a relapse in symptoms as well as side effects. You should speak your doctor before stop taking this medication.
What is the best dosage to take?
The diagnosis with your doctor will be able to determine the best dosage for your treatment. Work with your doctor closely for dosage and dosing schedules.
What happens if I miss a dose?
You should take the missed dose as soon you realize you have forgotten. If the forgotten dose is closer to your next scheduled dose, take the next schedule dose to avoid overlapping in dose.
What is the best way to store this medication?
This medication is stored at room temperature, and should be kept away from children and pets. Do not throw away this medication in the wastebasket. If you are uncertain how to dispose of this medication speak with your pharmacist for help in safely disposing of this medication.
