Staxyn is a drug that is prescribed to treat problems associated with erectile dysfunction (ED). Erectile dysfunction is a common type of male sexual dysfunction, and it is defined as the persistent inability to attain and maintain an erection. ED becomes more common as you get older; it affects as many as 30 million men worldwide.
When a man is sexually excited, his body’s normal response is to increase blood flow to his penis to produce an erection, but when he has ED, he is unable to achieve this. Staxyn helps men with ED by enhancing the erectile response when they are aroused. This medication contains the active ingredient Vardenafil, which belongs to a drug class known as PDE-5 (Phosphodiesterase type-5) inhibitor, which relaxes muscles and improves blood flow in particular areas of the body. In combination with sexual stimulation, this medication can increase the blood flow to the penis, which can help men get and maintain an erection. Staxyn does not increase sexual desire; it does not provide an instant erection without physical stimulation.
Staxyn (Vardenafil) is taken orally, and can be purchased online as 10mg disintegrating tablets. Your doctor will take into account your current and past medical conditions, potential drug interactions, your age, the severity of your erectile dysfunction and any previous experience you have had with Staxyn to determine which dosage of it will be most appropriate.
Before taking your prescribed medication, read all the instructions and paper work that is given to you by your pharmacist. Take Staxyn (Vardenafil) orally 45-60 minutes before sexual activity. Remove an orally disintegrating tablet from the package only when you are ready to take the medicine. Place the tablet in your mouth and allow it to dissolve without chewing. Swallow several times as the tablet dissolves. Do not take Staxyn with liquid.
Many factors can influence how long Staxyn (Vardenafil) takes to start working. In general, this medication takes about 45-60 minutes to produce noticeable effects. But your diet, your overall health, and the medications you’re taking, underlying conditions, and much more can all affect the amount of time this medication takes to work in your body and how long it lasts.
Do not change or increase your dose without consulting your physician first. Avoid taking more than one dose a day.
Store Staxyn at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Staxyn and lead to unwanted side effects. Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects of Vardenafil. Staxyn should not be taken more than once per day.
Staxyn (Vardenafil) may contain medical and non medical ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction. Before taking Staxyn, speak with your doctor about any known allergies. Also mention to your doctor any known medical conditions relating to heart problems, kidney disease, liver disease, high or low blood pressure, severe loss of body water, priapism, eye problems, bleeding disorders, or stomach ulcers. Tell your doctor about any current medications or supplementation you use to avoid interactions with Staxyn.
Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Staxyn. Grapefruit can change how the medication is absorbed in the body and can increase the chance of side effects or reduce the effect of Staxyn.
You may experience irregular heart rhythm (QT prolongation) while taking Staxyn. Risk of QT prolongation is increased with salt deficiencies, and use of diuretics can also increase this risk.
While taking Staxyn you may feel dizzy, drowsy or experience blurred vision. Avoid driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery until you feel it is safe. Alcohol and Cannabis can exasperate these side effects. Additionally, you can speak with your doctor about acceptable limits for these substances while taking Staxyn.
Staxyn (Vardenafil) does not prevent sexually transmittable diseases (STD's). Be sure to use protection when engaging in sexual acts to prevent STD's.
Side effects can include:
Flushing (redness or warmth of the face, neck, or chest), headaches, stomach upset, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms (such as stuffy nose, sneezing, or sore throat), memory problems, muscle or back pain, nausea, low blood pressure, dizziness, blurred vision and changes in color vision, abnormal ejaculation, and prolonged erections (priapism).
More serious side effects:
A painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 or more hours, sudden decreased vision (including permanent blindness, in one or both eyes), a sudden decrease or loss of hearing, sometimes with ringing in the ears and dizziness.
If any side effects become unmanageable speak with your doctor or pharmacist for help in additional treatment. For any serious side effects speak with your doctor right away for further treatment options.
