Temovate Ointment is a topical ointment consisting of a highly potent steroid called clobetasol. We carry the brand name of this medication in 0.05%.
Temovate is used to treat a variety of skin conditions. Skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergies (affecting the skin), can caused swelling, itching, and redness. Eczema (atopic dermatitis), one of the skin conditions Temovate Ointment can treat, is characterized by areas of the skin, commonly the face, neck, elbows, wrists, groin, knees, and ankles become inflamed. If the inflamed skin is scratched, dry patches and open sores with crusts may develop, resulting in potential for infection. This condition is considered an allergic-type skin condition as most times eczema flares up due to allergens in the air such as pollen.
Temovate Ointment (clobetasol propionate) is effective at treating skin conditions because steroids can block the chemical reactions in the body that create inflammation. They do this by interfering with the DNA inside the cells to create a type of protein, which is what blocks the reaction (inflammation).
